When Marianne and Connel, who know each other from college, start to see each other again in Dublin, their relationship is a turning point for both of them. Marianne isn’t as withdrawn and shy as she used to be. Connel tries hard to be a good friend, but he misses the way things used to be between them when they were younger. So, when Marianne gets into trouble at school, he wants to help. When she turns up at his house looking for her mother’s help, Connel can’t resist helping her out. But what starts as a simple favour is soon something more: in the process of helping Marianne, Connel realizes that he is falling in love with her all over again.
