Steve Martin, one of our country's most recognized and well-loved performers, has written a novella about life that is surprisingly insightful about relationships. His new book is titled "Shop girl. ” Mirabelle is the novella's shop girl, a woman with a wallflowers' beauty who works behind the glove counter at Neiman Marcus selling goods that no one buys anymore... Martin seems to get inside the human heart and explore it deeply. Mirabelle fascinates because she isn't glamorous, forceful or self-aggrandizing. She's somewhat lost, slightly off-kilter, and very bashful. But there's something about her that I can't get enough of.
