Middlemarch

In the novel Middlemarch, romantic love and social reform struggle against human foolishness and societal ideals in the fictional town of Middlemarch. Dorothea Brooke, an idealistic young woman living in the small and provincial town of Middlemarch, marries Tertius Lydgate, a charming but superficial man who is in line to inherit his uncle’s estate. She soon discovers he isn’t the man she thought he was. Meanwhile, Will Ladislaw, a handsome young artist caught in a love triangle between two women and his uncle, has fallen for Dorothea.
