When former military policeman Jack Reacher gets off an LA-to-Chicago train in Mother’s Rest, he knows he’s meant to be there. He just wonders why. Why is this town called Mother’s Rest? As soon as the train stops, he begins asking questions. The replies are evasive and vague. Why would a private investigator named Michelle Chang ask him to rank on her?
