Description
The Prior Aymer had taken the opportunity afforded by a change of clothes to wear garments of yet more expensive materials, over which he wore a cope curiously embroidered with gold thread. In place of the massive golden signet ring marking his ecclesiastical dignity, he wore several rings set with precious gems on each hand. His sandals were of the finest leather, imported from Spain. His beard was trimmed as small as his order would allow and his shaven crown was covered by a scarlet cap exquisitely embroidered with gold threads. The Knight Templar also wore an under tunic made out of purple silk embellished with furs. He wore a long robe of spotless white that flowed in ample folds from his shoulders, and his eight-pointed cross was sewn onto shoulder in black velvet.
