Homegoing

Once upon a time, two sisters were born in an African village. Effia was married off to the son of an English nobleman and lived in the comfort of Cape Coast Castle, while her sister Esi was imprisoned beneath her in the castle's dungeons and sold into slavery. Thousands of Africans were forced onto ships bound for America, where their children and grandchildren would be forced to live as slaves.
