Heartburn

In Heartburn, Nora Ephron's heroine, Rachel Samstat, finds out her husband is cheating on her. The fact that she learns this in the first seven months of her pregnancy does not provide consolation from her heartbreak. Food sometimes does, however, since Rachel writes cookbooks for a living. In between trying to win back her husband and loudly wishing him dead, the irrepressible Rachel offers some of her favorite recipes--like mashed potatoes and soufflé.
