Burial Rites

Agnes, a beautiful twenty-year-old woman, is accused of murder in Iceland in 1829. Immediately, local farmers wish to have her executed because they believe that she'll bring trouble upon them if they take her in. Tóti, a priest who has never been married and seems lonely, takes in Agnes after being assigned by the church to "tend" to her spirit. Agnes does not want to be tended by Tóti; she wants him as her husband. A mesmerizing story about love and murder, Burial Rites is a unique tale with unforgettable characters.
