I'm Daniel Handler, and I wrote this book. Did you know that authors often write the back-cover copy for their books? It might be interesting for you to think about that the next time you read something like, Joe who is in love with Andrea in a taxi falling in love with Peter. A bunch of different people, out of different kinds of love at the start of the novel. By the end of the novel, it's Andrea, or maybe it's Joe -- although it might not be Andrea or any case it might not be the same Andrea as Andrea is a very common name.
