Mary Oliver's latest volume contains poems that are both deeply familiar and new, and their concerns have broadened. While an earlier volume might have contained a dozen or so poems about the natural world set in a single place-perhaps Cape Cod, Massachusetts-this volume features at least one poem on almost every other page. A poem about a hawk asleep on a windy night will be followed by one about the birth of goslings. A sonnet about taking her golden Lab for a walk will be followed by a meditation on Alzheimer's disease.
