Description
John Kretschmer has traveled the world on sailboats for twenty years, and his delivery trips have taught him a lot about the world. In his book Flirting with Mermaids, he describes some of the exciting adventures he has had on these trips. He tells of how he delivered sailboats to far-flung ports in the Western Caribbean with a crew of eccentric Swedes researching ancient Mayan mariners. He also tells of landing in Aden at the outbreak of civil war and enduring a North Atlantic crossing during which he discovered the existence of Force 13 winds. At the end of a particularly trying delivery trip to Japan, John finds himself sailing through a high-impact debris zone caused by rockets launched from Cape Canaveral, but he is not fazed by this dangerous encounter.
