No one is above the law, not even the President of the United States. As Supreme Court lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal explains in his new book, Impeach, if President Trump continues to obstruct Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and its relationship with Trump’s campaign, he could very well be impeached. To quote President George Washington’s Farewell Address: “Foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government. ” Although impeachment should always be our last resort, says Katyal, our founders, principles, and Constitution leave us with no choice but to impeach.
