Book tours are a vital part of every book. After all, there’s no better way for an author to sell books than to rub elbows with potential readers. But if you want your book tour to be a success, you need to do more than simply show up at the bookstore, sign a few copies of your book, and leave. Mark McClusky’s new book Faster, Higher, Stronger: How Sports Science Is Creating a New Generation of Superathletes—and What We Can Learn from Them (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 256 pages) shows how today’s athletes—both professional and amateur—are using cutting-edge technology and savvy science to improve their performance.

Jeff Jordan is an American venture capitalist at the Silicon Valley firm Andreessen Horowitz and the former President and CEO of OpenTable.
