The 100-Year Life: Living and Working in an Age of Longevity tells how living to age 100 will have a tremendous effect on society and the economy, including forcing people to rethink retirement. Authors Lynda Gratton and Andrew Scott blend psychology and economics to show how you can redesign your life for a satisfying 100-year journey. Many people grew up believing that the road to success was to focus on completing education, finding a job, and then retiring from work around age 65. However, it's becoming clear that this three-step approach is crumbling--life expectancy is rising, final-salary pensions are vanishing, and many workers are switching jobs every few years.
