Down and Out in Paris and London

Roughly autobiographical, this unusual memoir recounts the adventures of a penniless British writer among the down-and-outs of two great cities. In Paris, he works at the bottom of the culinary echelon as a dishwasher in a fancy French restaurant. In London, while waiting for a job, he experiences the world of tramps and street people. He also stays in free lodging houses in both cities.
