Takeaways
Description
David Rakoff uses his sharp wit in this hilarious book to contrast the elegance of a supersonic Concorde flight with the good-times-and-chicken-wings populism of Hooters Air. He also worked as a cabana boy at a South Beach hotel, and traveled to a private island off the coast of Belize to watch a soft-core video shoot in which he was provided with his very own personal manservant. While his tales exemplify the good life, Rakoff's self-deprecating humor leaves the reader feeling good about everything but her or himself. This is clearly not a book for those who might be feeling particularly insecure.
