Famed to begin even the most advanced books on Zen, the first line: In the beginner's mind exists many possibilities, but in the experts there are few.  This can come off as extremely confusing and illogical.  However, Suzuki Roshi teaches on the first page that in order to understand Zen, one must leave their preconceived notions about it behind.  The book itself consists of many chapters filled with varied teachings that show the reader how to progress further into Zen.
