The Prize tells the narrative of oils long history, as well as the ongoing struggle for money and power that has always surrounded it. This conflict has shook the global economy, determined the result of wars, and altered the fates of men and nations. The award is as much a history of the twentieth century as it is a history of the oil industry. From the first well in Pennsylvania to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and Operation Desert Storm, the scope of history is vast.
