The Art of Asking

Amanda Palmer knows what it is like to ask. For money, for support, and for love. The knowledge she's gained from asking—and what she's learned from being asked—has been at the core of her success as a musician, as a visual artist, and even as a friend. And yet, she hasn't always felt comfortable asking—whether she was a child begging her parents for piano lessons or a newly married woman asking her husband to help out with the dishes. As Amanda gets older and has more experiences in life, she finds that there are some things that are easier to ask for than others…and that there are some things that are easier to take than others.
