Sacred Duty

An intimate portrait of the history-rich U. S. Army unit whose mission is to honor America’s fallen heroes on the most hallowed ground in the nation, Senator Tom Cotton’s Sacred Duty reveals how serving with The Old Guard sparked his commitment to honoring his countrymen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. During a tour of duty as a platoon leader in Iraq and Afghanistan, Cotton carried the flag-draped remains of his fellow comrades off of planes at Dover Air Force Base before laying them to rest in Arlington National Cemetery’s iconic Section 60. He also conducted hundreds of funerals for veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
