Living with the Gods

Of all the facts of human existence, the one most worthy of note is that every society shares a set of beliefs. These beliefs, often derived from religion, serve as a guide to a community's values and morality. For many years they have been used to divide humanity into opposing groups of believers and nonbelievers. Today, in our modern age, with growing secularism and technological advancement, these beliefs have lost much of their influence over society. Yet they continue to exist, in different forms and guises, and we have yet to find a way to make them disappear completely.
