Description
A gripping memoir of true-life adventure, this revised version with a blue sky cover offers additional chapters on the author's life, as well as more photographs and updates on stories from his earlier book. T. Fred Harvey is a native Texan born in a tent alongside the railroad tracks of the Texas Panhandle town of Memphis. His story is one of hardscrabble beginnings along the Texas-New Mexico border. He enlisted in the U. S. Marines at age seventeen and saw battle in Pacific Campaigns during World War II; he later served in Iwo Jima with the 5th Marine Division Assault Squad. His nickname among his friends was "3 Grenade Marine"—after having twice been run over by trucks running over him—the first time leaving him for dead, and the second time resulting in a full-body cast that lasted for months!
