An Outline of Psycho-Analysis

Freud's major works were published in an authorized translation by the Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud under the general editorship of James Strachey, with many translations done by Strachey himself and others prepared under his supervision. A uniform format was adopted for each volume, with a biographical essay on Freud's life and work—along with information about the individual volume—preceding each paperback. The result was to place the Standard Edition in a position of unquestioned supremacy over all other existing versions.
