18 Platoon

Sydney Jary MC, a soldier during WW2, was awarded the Military Cross for his actions as a platoon commander. After the war he went on to write about his experiences, including at Dunkirk and the fall of Singapore to the Japanese, in a book that became a recommended text on several military academy reading lists including that of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
