Simone Weil was a French philosopher, Christian mystic, and social activist. Weil was born in Paris to Alsatian agnostic Jewish parents who fled the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine to Germany. Her brilliance, ascetic lifestyle, introversion, and eccentricity limited her ability to mix with others, but not to teach and participate in political movements of her time. She wrote extensively with both insight and breadth about political movements of which she was a part and later about spiritual mysticism. Weil biographer Gabriella Fiori writes that Weil was "a moral genius in the orbit of ethics, a genius of immense revolutionary range".Simone Weil was a French philosopher, Christian mystic, and social activist. Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (Ph.D., Philology, Leipzig University, 1869) was a German philosopher of the late 19th century who challenged the foundations of Christianity and traditional morality. He was interested in the enhancement of individual and cultural health, and believed in life, creativity, power, and the realities of the world we live in, rather than those situated in a world beyond. Central to his philosophy is the idea of “life-affirmation,” which involves a questioning of all doctrines that drain life's expansive energies, however socially prevalent those views might be. Often referred to as one of the first existentialist philosophers along with Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855). His popular book Infinite in All Directions is a trip through the universe at its wittiest. In his view, science and religion are two lenses through which we can see the world around us. The book is a revised version of a series of the Gifford Lectures [name of the lectures] under the title In Praise of Diversity [name of the series]. It allowed Dyson to express everything in the universe, which he divided into two parts in polished prose: focusing on the diversity of natural objects as one half and on diversity reactions as another half. Chapter 1 is a brief explanation for Dyson's attitudes toward religion and science. Chapter 2 is a tour of the universe that emphasizes diverse views from which it can be encountered as well as it contains diverse objects. Chapter 3 is concerned with the history of science and describes different styles within science: one welcoming diversity, and one deploring it.
