Painting as a Pastime

Winston Churchill was a British statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955.

Leadership in the modern world and in war has changed beyond all recognition since it was first codified in the mid-nineteenth century by the manual that was to become this classic work. The collected wisdom of great military leaders, tacticians, and historians with the authentic voices of unknown soldiers is now brought together for a new generation in a book that teaches lessons about motivation, leadership, and morale that are every bit as valuable to today's leaders and managers.

Serve to Lead

Winston Churchill was not only a statesman and leader of historic proportions, he also possessed substantial literary talents. These two factors combine to make The Gathering Storm a unique work. The first volume of Churchills memoirs, this selection is broken into two parts. The first, From War to War, consists of Churchills critical observations on the settlement of World War I and its place in the causes of the Second World War. The second volume contains letters and memoranda from the British government--of which Churchill was part--as the country plunged unprepared into war. This stands as the best of history: written as it was made, by the man who made it.
