In a hypermodern environment, people have become so disconnected from nature that they can develop a nature-deficit disorder. A Buddhist attuned to nature has found a way to overcome this disorder: he walks with compassion in his heart and talks with reverence about the blessings of nature. This man, whose name is Mark Coleman, invites us to help him return to nature in Awake in the Wild (two to three-page chapters on various topics—Attuning to the Natural World, Reflecting the Rhythms of Nature, Walking with Compassion, Releasing the Inner Noise, Freeing the Animal Within, etc. ). Each chapter includes anecdotes about his many nature retreats combined with Buddhist wisdom and teachings, and examples of important writing on nature by other people.
