Ellie

Ellie Laks started The Gentle Barn after adopting a sick goat named Rosie from a run-down petting zoo. She had been abused, and she died shortly after being rescued. After this happened, Ellie was inspired to create a nonprofit organization that would rehabilitate abandoned and abused animals like Rosie. Today, The Gentle Barn is a nonprofit organization that treats over 200 animals, including chickens, horses, pigs, cows, rabbits, emus, and more. Volunteers help at-risk teens learn how to care for the animals and about the language of healing. My Gentle Barn talks about how The Gentle Barn came to be what it is today and how Ellie's own journey has changed since she founded the nonprofit organization. It's filled with heartwarming stories of animal recoveries and inspiring stories of human resilience alike.
