The Denial of Death
336 pages, 1997
Takeaways
Description
I found this book when I was in a mood of deep existential wonder. I wanted to learn more about death, something that all living things share. I've always been afraid of death, but it's something we shouldn't be afraid to talk about. Becker wrote this book in 1973, but much of what he discusses still holds true today. He uses insights from many famous scientists and psychologists on topics ranging from repression (a negative thing) to life itself. This book changed my view on how important repression is for humanity—without it, we wouldn't be able to live our lives as fully as possible.
