In the hours after a gunman killed 20 young children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, 2012, mothers Shannon Watts and Rebecca Peters began discussing what they could do to change the culture of gun violence in America. Watts decided she had to educate the public on how easy it is for dangerous people to buy guns. She contacted media outlets, and her story was soon featured in The Washington Post. Her Facebook page calling for a national march against gun violence became a grassroots phenomenon as thousands joined Watts’ cause. In this riveting memoir, Watts recounts her own story of empowering activism and offers practical steps that everyone can take to help create meaningful change in their own communities.
