Together, they wrote the musical Goldilocks (1958), which won two Tony Awards. They also collaborated on Touch and Go (1949) and King of Hearts (1954). It must be said that Kerr did not have much of an ear for music, as many of the shows he panned over his long career included the musically ambitious shows of Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein's comic opera Candide and musically ambitious West Side Story, and Frank Loesser's "musical with a lot of music" [sic. opera], The Most Happy Fella.Excerpted from Wikipedia.

There are few books about New York City that have charmed as many generations as William Steig's CDB! Just as there are few cities as storied and replete with life as New York City, there are few illustrators or writers who have charmed as many generations as William Steig. To Molly Young and Joana Avillez, a connection between the two seemed obvious, and so DC-T was born. Using a playful phonetic language first invented by Steig in his now classic 1968 book CDB!, but which in today's world of text message and internet shorthand feels uncannily contemporary, Young and Avillez tell a different story on each page of this collection of illustrations stuffed to the brim with humor and cleverness: SLIF! (It is alive!), A boy shouts gleefully at a pile of rubbish seething with rats, M B-Z (I'm busy!), declares the phone-wielding businesswoman to the would-be mugger, UI? (Are you high?), a lone man asks another sitting across from him on the subway.

Audrey Gelman is an American businessperson and political staffer. She is the founder of The Wing, a women's co-working space and social club founded in New York City in 2016. She was the inspiration for Allison Williams's character Marnie on Girls.
